Emergency Braking Function

The dynamic emergency braking system of the electronic parking brake (EPB) guarantees brake operation independent of the brake pedal across the entire speed range. Emergency braking is initiated by pressing the EPB button, and continued for as long as the button remains pressed. But compared with a conventional handbrake the new system works considerably more efficiently, offering approx. 60 % of maximum braking power. The increased efficiency is based on the active build-up of brake pressure on all four wheels, and on the fact that the important handling control systems such as ESP or ABS are also active during emergency braking.
