LongLife Engine Oil

The oil’s purpose in an internal combustion engine is to guarantee the lubrication and cooling of engine parts and to remove any residues produced during combustion. The quality of the oil depends on the refining of the base oil and the additives used. Due to high engine loads, partly synthetic and fully synthetic oils are often used today. The long service intervals that Volkswagen offers are only possible with the appropriate fully synthetic LongLife engine oils. Depending on the engine and model version, service and oil change intervals of up to 30,000 kilometres or a maximum of two years for petrol engines and up to 50,000 kilometres or a maximum of two years for certain diesel engines are possible.
Volkswagen has approved by name 58 engine oils which comply with Volkswagen standards VW 503.00, 503 01 and 504 00 for petrol engines and Volkswagen standards 506.00, 506 01 and 507 00 for diesel engines, all of which allow extended service intervals. Instructions on their use for each vehicle are given in the booklet "Technical Data" in the vehicle wallet.
Another 22 oils are approved in accordance with Volkswagen standard 503.01 for turbocharged petrol engines.
Ten lubricants that comply with standard 506.01 are approved for engines with unit injectors.
